Mr Gailor stated that he had been contacted by residents concerned that the proposed route of the cut and cover portion of the bypass would pass through running sand.

Professor Barber assured him that the said route adjacent to the Beaulieu Road/Bolton’s Bench area was not running sand and there was no cause for concern.

Mrs Wyeth said she was concerned about the number of loud sirens operating in the village confines. Agreed that the Clerk should write to the three emergency authorities to ask if there had been a change of policy in the use of sirens, particularly early in the morning and late at night or was there a marked increase in the need to use these due to emergency situations.

Professor Barber said that the Consumer Association was running a campaign regarding reports on food outlets.  Several Councils were now making findings known to the public.  General opinion was that it was not the responsibility of Parish Council to become involved.

The Chairman thanked those present for attending and closed the meeting.
