MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE RECREATION GROUND COMMITTEE HELD IN THE RECREATION GROUND ON FRIDAY, 6 OCTOBER 2006 AT 4.00 PM

Present:

Mr M Rollé (Chairman), Professor K Barber and Mr G Bisson.

In Attendence:

Mrs M Weston (Clerk to the Counci).

Apologies:

Mr D Newport.

Minutes:

The Minutes for the meeting held on 23 September 2005, having been circulated, were approved as a true and accurate record.

Matters Arising:

None

Election of Chairman

Mr M Rollé was elected Chairman for the ensuing year.

Questionnaire

Mr Rollé explained that he was still awaiting replies to the questionnaire which had now been circulated at Bartley School to children resident within the parish.  When he had these results he would be in a position to complete the survey.

Condition of Play Area

It was agreed that the play area was now in a dilapidated condition but that with remedial work it could be brought up to a reasonable standard.

 

RESOLVED: 

a) That the Clerk and Recreation Ground Chairman prepare a programme of work and contact the Probation Service to ask if unpaid workers could be used for this purpose.

 

b) That the Clerk obtain estimates for remedial work to the perimeter fencing and supply and fixing of a suitable gate.

Trees and Overgrown Area

The Forestry Commission had previously donated thirty trees to the Parish Council for replacement planting in the Recreation Ground.

 

RESOLVED:  That the ground between the children’s play area and the car park track, together with a small area on the other side of the track, be cleared to ground level in order that a further decision could be taken on its future.

Skateboard Ramp/ Basketball Hoop

It was noted that there were several small gaps at the bottom of the skateboard ramp and the basketball net was missing.

RESOLVED:  To leave this matter in abeyance pending the results of the questionnaire.
