Minutes of a meeting of the Cemetery Committee held at
the cemetery chapel on 13th October 2006 at 4:00 p.m.

PRESENT Mr D Newport (Chairman),
Mr G Bisson,
Mr P Boyes and Mrs E Butcher.
APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE Mr E Gailor.

MINUTES OF
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
The minutes of the Committee meeting held on 18 July 2006, having been circulated, were agreed by the Committee and signed by the Chairman as a correct record.
MATTERS ARISING None.
WATER SUPPLY Discussion took place regarding the proposals for the supply of water to the cemetery.

RESOLVED:

a) To enquire whether the meter position could be moved to inside the cemetery wall.
b) To request a push button tap with automatic turn off.
c) To ask Mr Broomfield to make a box to cover the tap.
d) To enquire whether the water would on its own mains supply or connected to the cricket club meter.
e) To enquire whether there would be any additional Water Board connection charges.
CEMETERY MAINTENANCE RESOLVED:
a) That Mr Boyes obtain the necessary materials, for which he would be reimbursed by the Parish Council, and paint the Chapel floor.  Cobwebs would also be removed from the walls and authorisation was given for any items surplus to requirements to be removed.  The lych gate would also be treated when appropriate.
b) That estimates be obtained for remedial action be taken to cut back some rhododendron bushes.
FIRE PRECAUTIONS It was noted that due to new legislation the Parish Council was now responsible for implementing fire precautions within the Chapel.

RESOLVED:  That the Clerk liase with Mr Charlesworth at the Community Centre to ensure that precautions were brought up to the require standard.

WAR MEMORIAL MAINTENANCE RESOLVED:  That a working party would repaint the war memorial fencing on 20 October commencing at 9.00 am.
TREE WORK The Clerk reported that Mr Witney had inspected the Cemetery trees and, in his opinion, no immediate work was necessary.
CEMETERY RECORDS Mr Bisson had arranged for several copies of the cemetery map to be made.  Consideration regarding updating of the cemetery records would be made at a later date.

Further enquiries would be made to ascertain exactly what the Parish Council’s responsibility was in this matter.

In the absence of any other business the Chairman thanked those present for attending and closed the meeting.
