Hampshire County Council’s Cabinet is to consider how to tackle traffic problems in Lyndhurst at its meeting on 31 March, and is anticipating keen interest from parties who have been involved in the Select Committee process.
Leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Ken Thornber, said: “I would like to thank all those individuals, groups and organisations who have contributed to the research and consultation carried out into traffic problems in Lyndhurst.
I also want to invite those who wish to make further representations to make a deputation at the Cabinet meeting, giving us the benefit of hearing their views on the conclusions and recommendations first hand.”
In making its decision the Cabinet will be taking into consideration the report of the Environment and Transportation Select Committee, which carried out a review looking at what the current traffic problems and highways issues are in Lyndhurst, what the possible solutions are and if a bypass would be a viable and deliverable option.
The Select Committee received evidence from a wide range of sources including the Chamber of Trade, Lyndhurst Residents’ Association, Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst Parish Councils, Natural England and the New Forest National Park Authority.
The report of independent consultants Mott McDonald, which reviews the Lyndhurst Transport Study into the range of options available to address traffic congestion, will also be used to inform the decision.
A deputation allows members of the public to present their views to Cabinet, but not to take part in the following debate and discussion.
To make a deputation you need to apply in writing to the council three clear days before the meeting. To find out more about how to make a deputation contact the County Council’s Democratic Services team - telephone: 01962 847314 or email: democratic.services@hants.gov.uk
Cabinet papers for the meeting on the 31 March are currently being prepared and links will be emailed to the media once available as is usual practice. |
