Lyndhurst Neighbourcare is a voluntary organisation that serves the villages of Lyndhurst, Emery Down, Minstead, Bank and Brook.
We offer neighbourly help to local residents of any age, if they have a need for such help, but no friend or relative locally to support them.
We can offer help with transport to medical appointments, help with shopping, collecting prescriptions, changing library books, changing light bulbs, help with form filling, or other minor practical tasks.
We will consider other requests but nearly all the requests we receive are for transport.
Can we help you?
If you wish to make a request for help you should ring our Voicemail number below and leave a message, giving your name and telephone number.
One of our coordinators will ring you back to ask for details of your request, usually within 24 hours.
Ideally you should allow two working days’ notice for any request.
We will always try to help even if the notice is shorter but we cannot guarantee to find you a driver.
You will be asked to make a modest donation, if you can afford it, to cover the driver’s expenses.
Lyndhurst Neighbourcare is one of many similar organisations within Hampshire that come under the umbrella of Hampshire Good Neighbours Support Service.
All our volunteers are local people of good standing and undergo a CRB check before joining us.
Can you help us?
Our organisation is run entirely by volunteers, putting in various amounts of time, depending on their circumstances.
We always have a need for new volunteers, mainly drivers, to help us cover increasing numbers of requests.
From time to time we also need non-driving volunteers to help with organisation and coordination.
Driving for Neighbourcare is enjoyable and rewarding voluntary work.
You meet some delightful and interesting people, and you have the satisfaction of doing a job of enormous benefit to the community.
Your expenses will be paid and Public Liability and Personal Accident Insurance is provided by the Good Neighbours Support Service.
You do not have to give any regular commitment, you can say no to any job if not convenient at the time, and you can drive for Neighbourcare as little as once a month if you so wish.
Your help as a volunteer driver would be much appreciated.
Alternatively, if you are competent with basic computing, and have e-mail, we could use your skills to help with our publicity, or with keeping our information and records up to date.
Or maybe you would be happy to take a turn at taking the Voicemail messages, and matching clients with drivers.
If you can help us in any capacity, or if you have a need of help yourself, please ring our Voicemail number below.
Thank you.
