Hi there

Four house burglaries to report. No specific areas targeted and no pattern although the two in Garden Close are obviously linked.

I have been asked to circulate some foot shaped notices to drop through open windows etc to highlight how easy it is to gain entry into most houses.

The chances are that I’m not going to get time to do many of these, but this is just to raise awareness, no more.

Some expensive gardening equipment stolen from Emery Down, some left in the garden and the other locked in a shed that was forced open.

A few varied assaults, three only of real relevance and two of these are linked- ie. One incident led to another shortly after.

Both of these are being investigated and likely to be resolved.

The forged £20 Scottish notes are back in the village. Most people have never even seen one so it does cause confusion and reluctance to refuse them. In the unlikely event of having one- just compare the feel of the paper to other bank notes and the forged ones will stand out.

For those that have them, forged notes generally glow under Ultra Violet light whereas genuine notes won’t.

I have been out and about with a speed/radar unit in the village and have been amazed at how many people do speed and to what extent, I do understand that none of us are perfect, but some of the speeds were inexcusable. To be fair, none that I stopped were locals.

And no, I will not be hanging around all the time with the radar gun all the time making the Government a fortune and making myself big bonuses.

I get a number of complaints from residents about excessive speed in places like Gosport Lane, Chapel Lane, Romsey Road, Princes Crescent, Southampton Road etc etc…All of these complaints are genuine concerns that people will be injured or worse, let alone the noise and so I do have to act (day to day enforcement is and will be dealt with by Roads Policing Units/Traffic Police so mine is an ancillary role). So, please don’t be caught out and just keep your speed down.

I am running a Police Surgery / drop in at the Community Centre roughly once a month and each date will be advertised on the outside notice board of the Community Centre and would be happy to see you for any queries etc.
