Hello,

Totton/Lyndhurst Police responded to a total of 43 incidents for the month, in my beat area.

There were three burglaries in total, one dwelling and the others –a school and a pub. For info, of these incidents, six were Road Traffic incidents, three were rural car park vehicle thefts and six were incidents at the Police Station.

So to put this in perspective, of the 46 incidents, only 14 were crimes relevant to the area. This is out of almost a month.

The divisional area covering the New Forest and beyond (called 6 Operational Command Unit) is undergoing a major Policing system change.

In summary this will be Police Officers covering the region in two different ways. Officers will be attached to either a ‘response team’ (called a TPT) who’s responsibility will be the attending and dealing with the more urgent incidents, or be part of a Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) whose responsibility will be dealing with all other, less urgent incidents.

This differs from the current system where Officers at each Station are part of a ‘shift’ with a response /Area car, general shift and Beat Officers. This method of Policing seems to be rolling out across the country This new system separates the two sides and each will specialise in their own Policing methods.

At present, I will be part of the Neighbourhood Policing Team covering Totton and Lyndhurst – with other colleagues and a number of PCSO’s (Police Community Support Officers) when they start operationally. My expectation is that I will able to concentrate on Lyndhurst matters.

I have been on restricted duties for several months for a medical complaint, with the date of return still up in the air. I do apologise for my absence, it’s not what I wanted.

Details of the next Police Surgery/drop in at the Community Centre should be in the ‘What’s On’ Community Centre guide or check the outside notice board of the Community Centre.
