After five years as Parish Council Chairman, May’s meeting saw George Bisson propose Mark Rolle as the new Chairman. Mark moves up from the Vice Chairman’s role and Helen Palmer has taken over that position.
Mark, on behalf of the Parish Council, thanked George for all the work he had done during his time as Chairman and I would like to add my thanks to George as he has been Chairman for most of the time I have been your Clerk and has done an excellent job for the parish.
As I write this the Alice Festival has now started …. congratulations to the team who have done so much hard work and given Lyndhurst something it can be justly proud of.
I hope you all enjoy the many events that are planned between now and Christmas. There is now a website at www.thealiceadventure.org.uk so have a look at the varied programme.
On June we will be welcoming Peter Balson and Gavin Brown of Southern Gas Network.
Extensive work will be carried out in the village later this year by Southern Gas and they are anxious to gain the views of the Parish Council as to how best to get the work done with the least disruption to village life.
Plans for the Buccaneer Ship play equipment in Coles Mead Recreation Ground are gathering pace and we are hoping to coincide the launch of the ship with a visit from NFDC Recreation Roadshow on 30 July 2009, making this a free fun day out in the long summer holidays.
Local school children will be asked to name the ship and information concerning this will be available shortly.
The ship will be replacing a large piece of play equipment that has come to the end of its life after serving us well for a great number of years.
