The Parish Council Annual Parish Meeting has now taken place.
This gave our Committee Chairmen the opportunity inform members of the public about all the work that had taken place since the last annual parish meeting and also to give some details of what is planned for the financial year commencing April 2009.
Our Chairman, George Bisson, gave a very interesting overview to explain where your money goes.
Also on hand were Mrs Pat Wyeth, our NFDC Councillor and Mr Mel Kendal, our HCC Councillor who gave informative reports.
As Pat is also a Parish Councillor we are lucky to have a great deal of continuity between us and the District Council and as she is also a member of the NFNPA she can look at many situations from every angle and her advice is invaluable.
The Lyndhurst Circular Walk will be launched on 19 April at 11.00 am in the main car park. Everyone in the parish is invited to attend so please come along—come on your own, with family and/or friends—everyone is welcome.
All households will be receiving a leaflet giving details of the walk and please remember you don’t have to do the entire walk in one day; there are loops that will bring you back to the starting point, thus making the walk shorter and giving you another section to look forward to in the future. There are also various public houses en route which may appeal to the thirsty walker.
A map board outlining the walk will shortly be “appearing” in the car park so look out for it.
On the day that I am writing this column—a lovely sunny, Spring morning—I have just come back from visiting the Recreation Ground and it really does look great, the main point being that there were lots of children enjoying the play equipment. (to see photographs of the recreation ground please follow this link Coles Mead Recreation Ground)
This leads me to news about the next piece of equipment the Parish Council will be purchasing—a buccaneer ship—to replace the “old friend” wooden equipment in the younger children’s play area.
The old equipment has reached the end of its life and is now costing too much to keep repairing it.
The new ship is brightly coloured and has lots of activities to keep children amused for hours.
The Recreation Committee will be organising another launch day to coincide with a NFDC Recreation Roadshow in the summer holidays and I will keep you all informed.
There will be a competition to name the ship and a pirate theme for the day.
Talking of competitions, the Allotment Committee will be launching a new competition.
The idea will be to offer on an annual basis a small prize and a certificate for the allotment plot deemed by the committee to be “best on site”, the criteria for the judging being productivity, presentation and utilisation of the allotment but with due regard to the physical abilities of the tenant.
