Cat Lake, Managing Editor and Keith Jay, Station Manager for New Forest Community Media gave a presentation at our September meeting explaining that The Park provided an online radio news service and online news service for the New Forest area.
The same day they had received news from OFCOM that they had been awarded a licence to broadcast a local radio service and it is hoped this will be launched next Spring.
Discussion took place at the September meeting about the possibility of the Parish Council providing a speed indicator device (or devices) in the village.
It was decided that, due to financial implications, this matter should be held in abeyance until our November Finance and General Purposes Committee meeting.
Local resident Michael Grant continues to voluntarily update our Cemetery records and this has moved on to another level in that he and Cemetery Committee Chairman Paul Boyes are busy adding markers in the Cemetery itself which will eventually help us to identify the sections of the Cemetery for all those of you who are trying to locate deceased ancestors—compiling family trees seems to be very popular nowadays and we get quite a few requests of this nature.
The Alice Festival continues to play an important part in our village and our thanks must go to everyone who has provided so much entertainment and information.
There are still some events planned before the end of the year so look out for more details around the village.
Remembrance Sunday will be on the 8th November this year.
More details of the Parish Council’s Remembrance Day Parade will appear in the next issue of What’s On.
Can I remind our Allotment holders that allotment collection evening will be on Friday 2nd October at 7.30 pm in the Community Centre. Anyone contemplating taking on an allotment is very welcome to attend to find out more details.
The Parish Council allotment gardens are situated in Pikes Hill and we will have a limited number of allotments of various sizes available to rent to local residents from October.
