The Lyndhurst Area Plan is now on the Parish Council website.
Alternatively, if you do not have access to the internet, a copy can be viewed in the Library or purchased from Lyndhurst Community Centre (£5 each).
Those of you who read this column regularly will no doubt remember that I have referred to the possibility of the Parish Council holding a fete in the Recreation Ground next summer.
However, it now seems as though there isn’t enough support for another event of this kind in our village so we have decided to postpone the idea for the time being.
However, we do hope to hold a low key event, possibly to coincide with the launching of some more new play equipment next year.
Remembrance Sunday takes place this year on 13th November.
You will find a timetable of arrangements elsewhere in this Newsletter.
I heard recently that Banner Homes have been granted permission to proceed with developing 2/2a Gosport Lane.
Whilst I am sure we will all be pleased to see the back of the hoardings surrounding the building plot the Parish Council feel it is a shame that the developer has been allowed to reduce the amount of affordable homes from nine (in the original application) to just three.
If our village is to thrive and our shops survive we need a good mix of housing and the six homes that have been “lost” would have provided much needed accommodation for people anxious to stay in the village but unable to do so because of the lack of suitable rental accommodation.
Allotment Collection evening took place at the beginning of October and at the time of writing we still have a couple of vacant plots so do get in touch if you enjoy growing your own fruit and vegetables.
This year we were sorry to say goodbye to two allotment holders who have been with us for a very long time—Georgina Callaghan and David “Luke” Bond.
We wish them well and hope they will still visit the allotments.
I know they will be made very welcome.
Keith Causey won Best Allotment prize and well deserved it was too.
An update on the track from Silver Street to Blackwater …. as I write this column A & L Stride are finishing the work up there.
The track forms part of our village walk but during the winter months it becomes impassable even with wellington boots on.
It will now provide an all weather track for walkers and a useful alternative to Mill Lane, which becomes ever more dangerous to pedestrians.
Many thanks to the Stride family and Mark Street, Land Agent at the Forestry Commission for helping us with their expert knowledge.
Also thanks must go to the Countryside Access Forum at Hampshire County Council and the NFNPA for funding the project.
The next Parish Council meeting takes place on Tuesday 8 November at 7.15 pm in Lyndhurst Community Centre.
Members of the public have the opportunity to speak during public participation at the commencement of the meeting so why not come along and hear what the Parish Council is doing for you?
