Clerk’s Corner - September 2011

This page was last updated on August 30, 2011

The first Parish Council meeting after the summer break takes place on Tuesday, 13 September at 7.15 pm in Lyndhurst Community Centre.

Members of the public are very welcome to attend and there is an opportunity to raise matters during public participation.

For the last few months we have been getting quite a good turnout of members of the public so why not come along—you might surprise yourself and enjoy it!

Our website team, TLC-Online will shortly be setting up a bulletin board on our website specifically so that youngsters can tell us about the sort of equipment they would like to see installed in the Recreation Ground.

Next year we will be focusing on the age group from age 12 upwards and we hope to be able to to get some grant aid to help pay for this project.

Speaking of grant aid, I was the recipient of some good news a few weeks ago when I learnt that INEOS had agreed to give us a very generous grant of £1,000 towards the new CCTV equipment that has recently been installed in the Recreation Ground.

This grant will help tremendously with what was unforeseen but very necessary expenditure and is a fine example of a local company assisting its community.

Coxlease School also contributed towards the cost of a new litter bin for the children’s play area and our thanks also go to them.

At the time of writing I don’t have the final details for the opening of the new play area other than to say that it will take place on Saturday, 10 September.

Information will be sent home from Pre-School and Infant School as soon as it becomes available and notices will be displayed around the village.

Remembrance Sunday is on 13 November this year and I am putting out my annual plea for a bugler.

If anyone knows of a bugler who would be willing to play for us at the service and war memorial afterwards please put them in touch with us.

Once upon a time we had a marching band but in recent years we have had to make do with taped music.

Although there was no Parish Council meeting in August, traffic issues seems to have dominated my life this month.

The Parish Council has requested meetings and updates from various people at Hampshire County Council and the results will be discussed at our September meeting.
