Biography

I am the District Councillor representing the District Ward of Lyndhurst.  Please contact me regarding any District Council matter in the Area.

The Ward comprises the Parish of Lyndhurst, which encompasses Emery Down and Bank.  It has a population of 3022 (est. 2006) and an electorate (as at 1st March 2007) of 2482.

Married to Derek, I have a married Daughter and Grandchildren.  I have worked in the Community for most of my life.

I have been a Parish Councillor for 22 years and District Councillor for 19 years.  Prior to that I was Chairman of the Residents Association.  During my time as Councillor, I have served on Housing, New Forest Road Safety, Environmental Services, Appeals and Planning.

From 1999 to 2000 I was Chairman of New Forest District Council.  I am also a Member of The National Park and sit on Planning and The Standards Committee.

My aim is to serve the Community to the best of my ability and to ensure Residents get value for their money.  I have a particular interest in supporting the young people in our Village and am at present trying to secure accommodation for a Youth Club.

Over the past four years I have used my Rural Grant allocation to help the Community Centre, Scout Groups, Guides, Brownies, Rainbows and Junior Football Club.

Traffic continues to dominate our Village.  In October 2008 the County Council announced a By Pass for Lyndhurst was not a viable option in the foreseeable future given the strong Environmental objections.  I will continue to meet with the County Council to explore any measures that may help to reduce congestion in our Village.

I care passionately about the Environment and the Forest in which we live.  I also accept it is a Living, Working Forest and the right balance must be sought.

I support small scale Affordable Housing for Local Families and High Tech, low impact Business that will not harm the Environment.
