Lyndhurst Cemetery

Parish Cemetery
The Parish Cemetery is situated in the heart of the New Forest near the beauty spot of Boltons Bench, Lyndhurst. 

It occupies a quiet spot yet is within walking distance of the village centre along a tarmac track.

The fees, payments and sums set out below apply where the person to be interred or in respect of whom the right is granted is, or immediately before his or her death was an inhabitant or parishioner of the Parish of Lyndhurst, or in the case of a stillborn child, where the parents (or one of them) are, or at the time of the interment were, such inhabitants or parishioners. 

In all other cases the amounts will be doubled.  Non-residents will only be admitted for burial or interment of ashes in the cemetery if they have connections with Lyndhurst.  

There is also a small Chapel, which can be used for services prior to burial or interment of ashes.

Part 1 - Interment
In any part of the burial ground.  The fees indicated for the various heads of Items 1 and 2.

(a) Do not include the digging of the grave.

 

(b) Apply provided the interment is made within 30 minutes of the time arranged with the Clerk of the Council.  If not so an additional £20 is payable.

  1. For the interment of an earthen grave:

(a)

Of the body of a still-born child or of a child whose age at the time of death did not exceed twelve years

No charge

(b)

Of the body of a person whose age at the time of death exceeded 12 years

£130.00

  1. The fees indicated for the various heads of this item apply where interment is at a depth not exceeding six feet (1800mm).

  2. For the interment of cremated remains in an earthen grave - £65.00

  3. For scattering of ashes in the Garden of Remembrance - £50.00

Part 2 - Purchase of Exclusive Rights of Burial in Earthen Grave

  1. For the exclusive right of burial in an earthen grave 9 feet by 4 feet - £160.00
  2. For the exclusive right of burial of cremated remains in an earthen grave 4 feet 6 inches by 4 feet - £80.00

Part 3 - Use of Chapel

  1. For service prior to interment - £50.00

Part 4 - Monuments, Gravestones, Tablets and Monumental Inscription

For the right of erect or place on a grave in respect of which the Exclusive Right of Burial has been granted:

(a)

A headstone not exceeding 4 ft 6 ins (1350 mm) in height

£90.00

(b)

A tablet or book on any grave.

£90.00

(c)

A flat stone (cremation grave) 2 ft x 2 ft

£90.00

(d)

A brass or bronze plaque (Garden of Remembrance) - 8½ ins x 5½ ins

£30.00

(e)

Additional inscription

£25.00

(f)

Tree planting (Prunus)

£20.00


The fees set out in Part 4 apply to an inhabitant or parishioner of the Parish of Lyndhurst.  In all other cases the fees will be doubled.

Search fee – for each name - £25.00

For copy of entry in register - £25.00
