| Parish Cemetery |
The Parish Cemetery is situated in the heart of the New Forest near the beauty spot of Boltons Bench, Lyndhurst.
It occupies a quiet spot yet is within walking distance of the village centre along a tarmac track.
Where to find the Cemetery
On leaving Lyndhurst turn right off the A35 Southampton Road immediately after the Lyndhurst Park Hotel; cross the cattle grid and turn left. Pass the War Memorial and take the first turning on the left immediately before the tarmac road turns to gravel track.
There is also a small Chapel which stands almost in the centre of the Cemetery.
The fees, payments and sums set out below apply where the person to be interred or in respect of whom the right is granted is, or immediately before his or her death was an inhabitant or parishioner of the Parish of Lyndhurst, or in the case of a stillborn child, where the parents (or one of them) are, or at the time of the interment were, such inhabitants or parishioners.
In all other cases the amounts will be doubled. Non-residents will only be admitted for burial or interment of ashes in the cemetery if they have connections with Lyndhurst.
Part 1 - Interment
In any part of the burial ground. The fees indicated for the various heads of Items 1 and 2.
(a) Do not include the digging of the grave.
(b) Apply provided the interment is made within 30 minutes of the time arranged with the Clerk of the Council. If not so an additional £20 is payable.
- For the interment of an earthen grave:

- The fees indicated for the various heads of this item apply where interment is at a depth not exceeding six feet (1800mm).
- For the interment of cremated remains in an earthen grave - £140.00
- For scattering of ashes in the Garden of Remembrance - £85.00
Part 2 - Purchase of Exclusive Rights of Burial in Earthen Grave
- For the exclusive right of burial in an earthen grave 9 feet by 4 feet - £275.00
- For the exclusive right of burial of cremated remains in an earthen grave 4 feet 6 inches by 4 feet - £140.00
Part 3 - Use of Chapel
- For service prior to interment - £90.00
Part 4 - Monuments, Gravestones, Tablets and Monumental Inscription
For the right of erect or place on a grave in respect of which the Exclusive Right of Burial has been granted:

The fees set out in Part 4 apply to an inhabitant or parishioner of the Parish of Lyndhurst. In all other cases the fees will be doubled.

Chapel
The Chapel is non denominational. It is approached through the lych gate or snicket side gate and can be used for the following activities:
Funerals, Baptisms, Blessings, Renewal of Vows,
Remembrance Services,
Any Church Services, Prayer Meetings, Choir Practice
The list is not exhaustive but the following should be borne in mind:-
(1) Not licensed for civil marriages
(2) No dedicated clergy
(3) Respect of Chapel and Cemetery
(4) No lighting other than candles
(5) No electricity
(6) Small generators acceptable
(7) Compliance with the Cemetery Regulations
(8) Flowers, etc are welcomed
(9) The Lych Gate can be opened, but no vehicular access is available
(10) Currently space is available for 30 persons (to be increased to 50 in 2010)
Proposals for services/activities must in the first instance be directed to the Parish Clerk who will advise the Chairman of the Cemetery Committee on the way ahead for viewing and all arrangements

The charge for use of the Chapel is £90 for up to four hours. Excess time will be charged at £10 per hour.
The decision on usage of the Chapel and Cemetery grounds is totally at the discretion of Lyndhurst Parish Council |
