Designed to boost the coffers of two
popular charities, Father Christmas will be making his first appearance
this year at an exotic and sumptuous Christmas gift fair at Applemore.
The Holly and the Ivy, at Applemore Health and Leisure, will have a huge range
of quality gifts, from fine silver jewellery to stocking fillers, handmade cakes
and puddings, lamb’s wool shawls, colourful bags, pottery and tableware
to children’s books and toys, traditional wooden Christmas decorations,
wreaths, swags, houseplants and bowls of winter flowering bulbs.
There’ll be locally made soaps, cheese, honey, mohair products and hand-stitched
leather goods, preserves and chutneys, candles, wooden bowls and platters, paintings,
olives, bespoke Christmas crackers, garden gift books, framed photographs and
aromatherapy products.
More than 35 producers are taking part; as well as Santa waiting to meet the
kids and have his picture taken with them while shoppers enjoy the most gorgeous
Christmas gift fair around.
It’s organised by New Forest District Council in aid of Victim Support
and First Opportunities, the charities supported by this year’s council
chairman, Michael Pemberton.
“I’m delighted we have managed to get all these wonderful producers
together for the day,” he said. “Many of the goods are made locally
and I’m sure that visitors will be able to do all their Christmas shopping
under one roof – I’m certainly going to".
There will be refreshments all day, including light lunches, made from
locally sourced food. The entrance fee of £2.50 per person (children under
16 free) will go to the charities.
Car parking is free. The Holly and the Ivy runs at Applemore Health and Leisure,
Applemore (off the A326, near Tesco’s store) from 11.00am-3.00pm on Saturday,
November 19th. |
