Police are appealing for witnesses and information, after a
Vauxhall Vectra lost control on a busy New Forest road.
The blue Vectra was travelling towards Lyndhurst at approximately
7.40am this morning (Wednesday, August 9) when it went off the
road at Markway Enclosure, two miles east of Holmsley.
The Vectra had been attempting to overtake a queue of slower
moving vehicles when a black Vauxhall Corsa from within the queue
pulled out in front of it.
The driver of the Vectra was forced to take avoiding action
and lost control, coming to rest in a field adjacent to the eastbound
carriageway, after skidding across the road.
The Vectra driver, a 28 year-old-man from the New Milton area,
suffered minor cuts and bruises and was treated at the scene.
His passenger, a 25 year-old-man from the Walkford area of Dorset,
was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious, but not
life threatening injuries. He suffered a suspected broken wrist
and leg, along with abdominal and head injuries.
PC Bobbie Dove of the Totton Roads Policing Unit, said:
“Police
would particularly like to speak to the driver of the black Corsa
who failed to stop at the scene. I would also appeal to any motorists
who were travelling along the A35 this morning and saw the black
Corsa immediately prior to the crash to come forward.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the PC Dove
