| 5th Annual Planthunters Fair |
Favourite nurseries and some exciting newcomers will draw plant lovers from far and wide to the fifth annual Planthunters Fair at Lyndhurst in early May.
Exotic, unusual and well-loved cottage garden plants - and a lot more besides -will be on sale at the fair, at New Forest District Council headquarters, Appletree Court.
Planthunters, which has grown in size and popularity since its inception in 2001, sees top nurseries come together on Saturday May 6, to offer a huge variety of plants and shrubs for sale.

Plants for sale will range from shrubs and climbers to clematis, unusual woodland and shade-loving species, dark foliage perennials, roses, day lilies, grasses, ferns and summer-flowering bulbs as well as herbaceous perennials. There'll be wild flowers and seed for sale as well.
Other stalls will offer garden furniture and accessories, fresh asparagus and strawberries, New Forest honey, olives and locally made pottery. Dee Puddy's gardening accessories turn plantsmanship into an artform as do Susie and Richard Kerwood's hand-made willow supports and frames.
Botanical artist Clare Godfrey is bringing original paintings, prints and cards.
Big brunch breakfast baguettes, home made soup, freshly made rolls, homemade cakes, strawberries and cream and delicious cream teas, all made with locally produced food will be on sale all day.
Proceeds from the day will go to Victim Support New Forest and First Opportunities, the chosen charities of council chairman, Michael Pemberton.
Last year's Planthunters' Fair raised more than £3000 for charity.
Adult admission to the fair, which runs from 10am-3pm on Saturday May 6, is £2.50. |
