Lyndhurst Parish Council, which represents Lyndhurst, Emery Down and Bank, is inviting local residents to take their future into their own hands by helping to prepare a Parish Plan.
This can help breathe new life into rural communities and help local people develop their own neighbourhoods in the way they would like to see.
The first Public Meeting will be at Lyndhurst Community Centre on Thursday May 10th at 7.30pm.
Penny Velander, NFDC Community Planning Officer and Anne Harrison, HCC Market Towns Co‑ordinator, will be talking about how Parish Plans have helped other local villages.
Lyndhurst Parish Plan will consider all points of view. Everyone’s ideas will be considered on any issue relevant to the communities, including employment and leisure, transport and traffic, schools, youth facilities, shopping, and business.
The council is writing to all groups in the village asking them to put forward their ideas about how Lyndhurst, Emery Down and Bank, should look and run itself in the next 3, 5 and even 10 years.
There will also be further public meetings, and a questionnaire for every household to fill in.
“This is a great opportunity for our community”, says Parish Council Chairman George Bisson. “The important thing about this scheme is that everyone gets a chance to contribute. When the plan is drawn up it will be there as concrete evidence to show how we all wish to see the village develop into something we are proud to pass on to our successors.
It may assist our applications for grants towards many parish activities perhaps providing better recreational facilities for our children, our community centres and transport concerns to mention a few issues. Please come to speak, question or just listen.
This is your chance to make a difference - please don’t waste it.”
