Police in the New Forest, Eastleigh and Test Valley are reminding residents never to give their bank account personal identification number (PIN) to anyone.
Following a number of reports over the past few weeks members of the public are asked to be extra cautious.
Officers have received reports of telephone callers claiming to be a police officer and asking for a PIN to confirm the person’s identity.
Members of the public are reminded that police officers will not ask for a PIN under any circumstances.
Anyone who is suspicious of a telephone caller requesting a PIN should contact their local station on 0845 045 45 45, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. |
