New Forest householders and gardeners are urged to help the environment with a special offer on composting.
Composters, kitchen caddies and a rainsaver kit are on offer to residents at a heavily discounted rate in a bid to get more people recycling their kitchen and garden waste, as well as capturing rainwater.
Composting is a cheap and easy way to transform natural waste, such as potato peelings, teabags and egg shells, into a nutritious product for the garden.
The special incentive, at www.hants.getcomposting.com, offers a 220 litre compost bin at £14 (rrp £39), a five litre kitchen bin for £4 (rrp £5) and a complete rainsaver kit, including water butt, stand and rain diverter, for £37.95 (Recommended retail price £60).
Anybody wishing to see the range of compost bins and accessories available or place an order should visit www.hants.getcomposting.com or call 0845 130 6090 quoting reference HANTSSO1L.
To coincide with national Green Office Week (26-30 April), New Forest District Council has introducing two compost bins in the grounds at its offices in Appletree Court, Lyndhurst.
The council hopes to encourage more employees to deposit their food waste in the recycling facilities to create good compost material for the grounds.
New Forest District Council also operates a successful garden waste collection scheme. For £26 a year, householders can dispose of their garden waste through fortnightly kerbside collections.
All the garden waste is then taken to a composting facility where it is turned into Pro-Grow, a high grade soil conditioner.
