Clerk's Corner: April 2017
At the March Parish Council meeting, our Parish Councillors chose two new Councillors.
The successful candidates are Fiona Green, who lives in Queens Road and Peter Burrows, who lives at Bank. We all hope they will enjoy their time as a Councillor.
Their contact details will be appearing on the website within the next few days.
I haven’t got much more news for you about the Parish Office yet other than to say it occupies a High Street position and work is taking place at the moment ready for us to move in probably at the end of April or early May.
We hope to have an office opening as soon as possible.
I will be visiting a few other parish offices over the next few weeks to get some ideas.
It is very important that we get the layout right straight away and make the best use of the space we have available.
By the time you read this we will have held our Annual Parish Meeting which gives the Parish Council the opportunity of a resumé of what has taken place during the past year.
In this Council’s case, it is quite a lot.
Firstly there have been some improvements in the Recreation Ground with the new adult fitness equipment and MUGA goal.
The Cemetery Chapel now has electricity and can provide heat and light, both essentials nowadays both for users’ comfort and to protect the fabric of the building.
The seat in commemoration of Arthur Phillip has been installed in the public open space in Lyndhurst car park.
As I write this I know that one of the previous seats kindly donated by NFDC has also been returned to this space and I understand another one will follow.
We will be throwing open the doors of the Cemetery Chapel on Saturday, 8 April for anyone who wants to come and have a look at the Chapel improvements.
Councillor Angela Trend will be providing a historical display relating to the Cemetery, Chapel and the surrounding area.
The Cemetery registers will be available as well as the new maps of the area.
There are more details elsewhere in this Newsletter, on our website and in our noticeboards.
Please come and see us on the day between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm.
We do have one or two allotments vacant at the moment and now is the time of year to prepare the ground and start sowing.
If you are interested in taking on a plot please get in touch with me or our Allotment Committee Chairman, Adrian Wiltshire (023 8028 4134).
We had two residents from Wellands Road visit us and speak during public participation in March.
This is an opportunity for members of the public to come in and let the Parish Council know about any specific problem they may have.
The particular subject this time was the traffic problems experienced by residents in Wellands Road and how everyone could best work together to try and solve them.
It will take time to work through them but we all hope that some progress can be made.
Our next Parish Council meeting will be held on Tuesday 11 April at 7.15 pm in Lyndhurst Community Centre.
Why not come along. There is an opportunity for members of the public to air their views at the commencement of the meeting.
